With the transfer season opening, INEOS Grenadiers have taken no time to reveal their first signing for 2023, Ethan Hayter's younger brother Leo, who has been one of the most talented rising stars in the under-23 ranks and will be making his step up to World Tour for the next few years.
Leo will be joining his older brother Ethan Hayter who has for several years been a part of the British team and is another of Great Britain's most exciting and versatile talents. It was known already that the 20-year old would be joining INEOS at the end of this season as a stagiaire, however a long-term contract has been agreed on which will see Hayter in the team all the way into 2025.
A winner of the under-23 Liège-Bastogne-Liège last year, Hayter impressed the most this year at the under-23 Giro d'Italia where he won the overall classification with a set of dominant rides in the mountains. His transfer follows the team's tradition of putting emphasis on the mountains, however he is most likely set to be a rider capable of succeeding in multiple terrains.
“I’m super proud and excited to be joining the INEOS Grenadiers this coming year, moving up to the highest level of the sport in a British team I’ve been inspired by since I started competing," Hayter said in a press release. "Having participated in some training camps with the team, I already feel really at home here, and now can’t wait to get started.”
