The circuit in Glasgow yesterday was open for the riders who would be participating in the road races and many tried out their legs on the climbs. On Montrose street, fans caught a glimpse of Mathieu van der Poel sprinting up a 14% ramp, and the Spanish junior that followed him Adrià Pericas has also gotten quite a lot of attention.
"I exploded towards the top. We were riding that climb when Van der Poel passed like a rocket," Pericas told Marca. "I immediately tried to grab his wheel, but exploded towards the top. I couldn't say anything to him because I didn't have time and too much pain."
Chilean Manuel Lira followed van der Poel on that moment and on their wheel was the 17-year old, both displaying an impressive amount of power following the Dutchman up the brutal ramp. This brought both quite a lot of attention taking into consideration the viral clips.
Pericas is set to race the men's junior road race today in Glasgow, he could very well be a contender for a top result if yesterday's test was anything to show for.
