PRIMOZ ROGLIC TAKE A BOW 👏 Two wins in a row for Primoz Roglic cementing his lead at the Criterium du Dauphine 🇫🇷 by winning stage 7 🏆 #cycling #roadcycling #roglic
Stage 7 of the Criterium du Dauphine promised even more excitement than the previous day, with another mountain day where the general classification was sure to come into play. In the end, an early drop off for Remco Evenepoel 7 km from the finish left Primoz Roglic even more of a leader as he took another stage win.
Evenepoel had started the day as Roglic's main threat for the Maillot Jaune, as he was 2nd, 19 seconds behind the BORA - hansgrohe leader. However, with his disappointing final climb, the Soudal - Quick-Step drops to 6th position, now practically out of chances of overall victory. Meanwhile, Roglic has reinforced the race lead, now with an advantage of 1 minute and 2 seconds over Matteo Jorgenson.
Jorgenson tried to fight with Roglic for the stage victory until the end. But the American from Team Visma | Lease a Bike lost out in the last meters, taking 2nd place also in the stage. Derek Gee completes the Top 3 of the GC, now a distance of 1 minute and 13 seconds behind the race leader.
Finally, the rest of the riders in the Top 10 of the general classification are Aleksandr Vlasov, who is 4th, 1 minute and 56 seconds behind his teammate and yellow jersey Primoz Roglic, Carlos Rodriguez sits 5th with Evenepoel 6th, Laurens De Plus is 7th, Oier Lazkano 8th and Giulio Ciccone is 9th, just ahead of Mikel Landa.
