PRIMOZ ROGLIC TAKE A BOW 👏 Two wins in a row for Primoz Roglic cementing his lead at the Criterium du Dauphine 🇫🇷 by winning stage 7 🏆 #cycling #roadcycling #roglic
For the second day running, Primoz Roglic was the strongest of the general classification challengers at the 2024 Criterium du Dauphine. On the summit finish of stage 7, the Slovenian took victory to further strengthen his grip on the Maillot Jaune.
"It probably seems easier than actually it was. It was a hard day, huh?" the BORA - hansgrohe leader reflected in the now typical Roglic fashion in his post-stage interview. With Remco Evenepoel, who started the day 2nd overall being dropped early on the final climb, Roglic also sees his general classification advantage extend to 1:02 from Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Matteo Jorgenson, with third placed Derek Gee at 1:13 down in the fight for the Maillot Jaune.
Also for the second day running, Roglic had a lot to thank super domestique Aleksandr Vlasov for. Vlasov set a formidable pace on the final climb, deterring attack, dwindling the group and catching lone leader Marc Soler. "The guys did an amazing job, having everything under control from the very start until the finish, so I’m glad I had the legs in the end to finish it off," says Roglic.
"At the end, why not?" Roglic concludes. "There was an opportunity, and because the guys did an incredible job. We all still feel it after the crash and these hard days in the legs, nobody feels better, but with the commitment and the work they put in, [it’s] another day that we can celebrate and be happy."
