Lotte Kopecky Women's Elimination Race winner at Track World Championships

Belgium's Lotte Kopecky has won the Women's Elimination Race at the UCI Track World Championships after a thrilling race in France.

Always one of the most exciting races in the world of track cycling, the Women's Elimination Race once again was a great watch. After an initial false start the drama finally got underway with Nigeria being the unfortunate first elimination. Slowly but surely the pack was whittled down as rider after rider saw the dreaded red light flash on their bike, signalling their race was over.

A bad crash after the 4th elimination saw a number of riders, including Great Britain's Sophie Lewis go down hard, the Brit eventually finishing 6th. Eventually it all came down to USA, Italy and Belgium. America's Jennifer Valente took bronze before Belgium's Lotte Kopecky stormed away from Italian, Rachel Barbieri to take the victory.
