VIDEO: Wout van Aert and Fem van Empel celebrate double Team Visma | Lease a Bike success in Benidorm

The penultimate round of UCI World Cup action for the 2023/24 campaign took place on Sunday in the Spanish sunshine of Benidorm.

Wout van Aert and Fem van Empel emerged victorious in a delightful, double success for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. For van Aert it was a much-needed win as he finally managed to conquer his old rival, Mathieu van der Poel and finished his cyclocross season on a high after an incredibly dramatic and exciting near-hour of racing.

Van Empel meanwhile has been the dominant figure of women's cyclocross this winter, taking victory more often than not. It wasn't easy for her on this occasion however, as Puck Pieterse and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado did their best to threaten the world champion. Ultimately though, van Empel triumphed yet again.
