Uno-X Mobility will return to the
Tour de France in 2024 it has now been confirmed. One of the men who looks likely to be a part of the lineup at this early stage, is the vastly experienced
Alexander Kristoff.
"I felt that we performed well last year. We were in the middle of the tree in terms of points. In that sense, we deserved a place this year, as there were many who did worse than us," says Kristoff in conversation with Discovery after news of the Scandinavian team's invitation for the second year running was finally, officially confirmed.
Although Uno-X weren't able to cap off their debut Grand Tour with a stage win, Kristoff believes they are now stronger than ever. "We have strengthened the team with, among others, Andreas Leknessund and Magnus Cort," he notes. "Markus Hoelgaard and Jonas Iversby Hvideberg can also help strengthen the team. In that sense, the team is stronger and better. This year we can win stages."
But with the overall strengthening of their roster, does the now 36-year-old, four-time Tour de France stage winner still believe he merits a place on the team? "I don't see myself as a "banker" in the team. We have many good riders, so I have to show form and results as well. But I hope and believe that I will get a place," he answers. "Many have become a year older, and will perform even better. Tobias Halland Johannessen, who got third place last year, will, among other things, be even stronger. And then we have me, who is also a year older and who may not perform better because of that."
