The latest round of UCI
World Cup action took place on Sunday in Dendermonde and there was plenty of action and drama from a very entertaining day.
In the women's race, Fem van Empel was absent, continuing her rest and recuperation and in the World Champion's absence,
Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado once again asserted her dominance. Fighting off competition from the likes of the returning
Lucinda Brand and the British National Champion Zoe Backstedt, Alvarado was a comfortable winner.
In the men's race, there was a somewhat surprising winner as
Pim Ronhaar triumphed for his first career World Cup victory ahead of his
Baloise - Trek Lions teammate,
Lars van der Haar. Rounding out the podium was
Laurens Sweeck.
