Thibau Nys and the UCI World Cup have been two much-discussed topics over the last couple of days, thanks to some heavy, public criticism from the UCI President, David Lappartient. Next weekend in Troyes though, Nys will return.
“Nys had a bad result at the European Cyclocross Championships and says he is tired, but why would you ride in Niel on Saturday? If you're tired, you don't ride. Now Thibau Nys is someone who needs cyclocross, but he is not the only one who ignores World Cups,” were Lappartient's inflammatory words in the press about the young Belgian's absence from Dendermonde last Sunday.
With the Belgian team now having announced their roster of riders for the November 19th round of action in Troyes, Nys is notable by his appearance on the list.
Belgian team for women's UCI World Cup Troyes: Julie Brouwers, Sanne Cant, Lore De Schepper, Alicia Franck, Marion Norbert-Riberolle, Jinse Peeters, Xaydée Van Sinaey, Laura Verdonschot, Suzanne Verhoeven.
Belgian team for men's UCI World Cup Troyes: Jens Adams, Eli Iserbyt, Gerben Kuypers, Witse Meeussen, Thibau Nys, Laurens Sweeck, Toon Vandebosch, Niels Vandeputte, Michael Vanthourenhout, Joran Wyseure.

🇫🇷 Lappartient speaks threatening language about skipping #CXWorldCup races 🗣️ “If someone gives priority to a national race, he shouldn’t be able to compete in the next WorldCup and not in the CX World Championships. The World Cup has to be mandatory.” (DirectVelo, 📸 Cor Vos)
