Mathieu van der Poel has been unbeatable this winter. Nine races nine wins since the world champion made his return to cyclocross.
As he prepares for his 10th outing on Sunday afternoon in Zonhoven however, the Dutchman insists the winning streak only something that concerns others. For himself, he's taking things one race at a time. "I don't think that hard about it. That plays more with people other than myself. I will try to win the race. My cyclocross season is already very successful, but of course the most important is yet to come," he tells Wielerflits.
“I am still motivated, but I am also looking forward to training in the sun again. I do need to work longer days," he adds, referencing the busy festive calendar, before previewing Zonhoven. “The course is as always. The rain hasn't changed much. It remains an extremely difficult match. It's the first time it's been this cold. It will be a cross with gloves.”
