Eli Iserbyt has put on his best performance to win today in Troyes. The Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal rider won the fourth round of the UCI World cup as he defeated Lars van der Haar.
With the track conditions dry the men's race was very fast right from the start and relatively compact. Baloise - Trek Lions began to take advantage of their numbers early on, with Lars van der Haar hitting the front on the opening lap. As Ryan Kamp suffered a puncture behind him, a gap opened up.
Gerben Kuypers set off on the chase, with a few riders close behind. Eli Iserbyt attacked from the group behind and quickly went off on the chase of van der Haar; whilst the rest of the field began to be distanced further and further. On lap 5 Iserbyt made the junction to the World Cup leader and immediately hit the front, putting on the pressure. Joris Nieuwenhuis and Ryan Kamp in the meantime had began chasing Kuypers for the last podium spot.
Iserbyt was on a great day and managed to drop the Dutchman. It was a very strong and important win, his first World Cup of the season - whilst Baloise - Trek Lions were defeated for the first time. Van der Haar held on for second place whilst Joris Nieuwenhuis rode to third on the day.
