Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado tops van Empel and Brand to win Superprestige Ruddervoorde

The first round of the Superprestige Cup is taking this place in Ruddervoorde and in the women's race we have had a very tight and exciting battle. Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado has taken a convincing win in dry conditions and has begun to build on her title defense.

It was a race between four riders: Brand, Alvarado, van Empel and Sara Casasola. The first few laps saw a very strong pace and the race was split with Brand attaccking hard. However it would then slow down because the fast race didn't allow to make differences. Behind a few riders came close, but in the final two laps the pace increased dramatically again.

In the final lap ultimately, Alvarado managed to carve a gap to her rivals and took a strong win in what was the first cup race of the winter. Lucinda Brand beat Fem van Empel in the final sprint to finish third.
