Zoe Bäckstedt was the prime favourite to take the win in the women's junior road race at the World Championships, and she easily took the triumph as she once again rode above the rest.
Her tactics were quite simple, to go hard early on and take a win solo. As in the time-trial, she displayed power that was far from being matched by any competitor, as she attacked after 10 kilometers of the 67-kilometer race, and quickly built a gap of over two minutes which she kept to the finish line. The Welsh rider is already signed into the WWT next year, and is proving to be ready for it.
Eglantine Rayer and
Nienke Vinke completed the podium to take important medals.
