Eli Iserbyt was
beaten by Niels Vandeputte in the
Flandriencross Hamme, and yet again he had a race filled with drama. The 27 year
old suffered a problem with his finger, after he had a run in with a photographer,
which he told
Wierlerflits after the race.
“I think a spoke hit my finger. You don’t really see it on
TV, but I was completely caught by a photographer,” he said whilst pointing. “That
made me shoot out of that track at high speed, I fell and everyone rode on me.
“We rode briefly against the wire and the photographer bent
over with the first four. Then he grabbed me by my shoulder, so that’s a real
shame. You don’t expect someone to get that far over a wire. Certainly not with
a camera that’s half a meter long.”
Iserbyt was rightly disappointed by a collision with someone
who wasn’t even racing, and his team doctor Frank De Winter spoke about his
crash further. "One of his fingers is a bit bruised, but he also has an
open wound there.
“At the same time, he was also hit on his leg. He also came
into contact with a photographer, with his shoulder. That is also a bit
bruised. But normally that will not have an impact on the upcoming races."
