Wout Van Aert shares details about his first ride outside since Dwars door Vlaanderen crash

Finally some good news for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. Almost a month after his fall at Dwars door Vlaanderen, Wout Van Aert was able to take his bike for a ride outside. On Friday he and his friend and training partner Jan Bakelants went on a 'coffee ride'.

On Instagram, Van Aert shared some things about his first outdoor ride. He was sitting on a terrace enjoying a coffee and was visibly relieved that he could climb back onto the road bike. "Riding my favorite horse again," was the telling caption. He also shared some details about the ride, which was almost 100 kilometers long and took three hours.

Van Aert had to miss his three major goals this spring: Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Giro d'Italia. It is still uncertain when he will return to a competition at the highest level.
