Wout van Aert is back to serious training after a Tour de France where all of his goals were accomplished, and he will be eyeing success further down the line this year, with the World championships and the rainbow jersey in sight.
After the Tour the Belgian took little rest, having celebrated and raced several post-Tour criteriums in the week after the race, and shortly after traveling to Livigno for an altitude camp where he is looking to setup the rest of the season. He was riding with teammate Tiesj Benoot until Benoot had the misfortune of suffering a serious training accident that has sidelined him for the rest of the competitive season.

Van Aert will likely stay another week in the famous Italian training site, surrounded by high mountains, but likely where he will keep his focus on the explosivity and shorter efforts which will be how the races he will be targeting later this season will be decided. The Belgian will forego the time-trial World championships in order to specifically focus on the road race, but until then he will follow several other one-day races.
He's set to return to competition in the 21st of August for the BEMER Cyclassics, followed by the Bretagne Classic the weekend after. As many other contenders for the World championships, Van Aert will then travel to Canada to race the GP de Québec and the GP de Montréal with profiles that will suit him perfectly and resemble the Worlds, before travelling to Australia to make his final preparations.
