The Italian national team has announced the riders that will be representing the team in the upcoming European championships, and all lineups present a wide array of stars.
Filippo Ganna will be missing out on the time-trial event where he would be a prime favourite, to favour the road race and taking into account his current rainbow stripes. He will be a domestique however, as will leadout man Jacopo Guarnieri will, as the team brings no less than five sprinters who can fight for a strong result - however with little knowledge to how the tactics will unfold.
Giacomo Nizzolo and Alberto Dainese should lead the way, however also with the presence of the likes of Jonathan Milan, Luca Mozzato and Matteo Trentin who are all fit sprinters, but likely to work towards the team or in an offensive strategy. Matteo Sobrero and Mattia Cattaneo will represent the team in the time-trial, set to take place in the outskirts of Munich - the city that will be hosting the event.
As for the women's race the scenario won't be too different, with World champion Elisa Balsamo being a more clear leader, however with very strong alternatives in the likes of Marta Bastianelli, Rachele Barbieri, Maria Giulia Confalonieri and Elena Cecchini between the riders who are expected to contest a bunch sprint in Germany.
