Jumbo-Visma are arguably the strongest team entering the 2023 cobbled classics campaign, if nothing is to go wrong. The presence of Wout van Aert, Dylan van Baarle, Christophe Laporte and Tiesj Benoot will be a very strong one, and the team aims for big wins.
This afternoon in the Netherlands, the Dutch team have revealed their main goals and schedules for leaders. Amongst them was the cobbled classics block, in which the team revealed - unsurprisingly - that Wout van Aert and Dylan van Baarle will be their leaders. First and second in Paris-Roubaix this year, combined they (Laporte and Benoot added) have wins at the E3 Saxo Bank Classic and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, alongside podiums at Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Tour des Flandres.
"The Tour of Flanders and/or Paris-Roubaix," team DS Merijn Zeeman stated as being the clear goals. "We want to start with the best possible preparation and aim for the highest possible result. Dylan van Baarle, among others, is a crucial addition to our strong classic core. With this collective, I am confident we can win with one of our riders."
This year Jumbo already seemed the strongest teams in the classics, and that should only improve. The team has recently conducted a recon of the Paris-Roubaix cobbles already, and seems ready and with a good idea of it's block for the spring.
