Merijn Zeeman, the sporting director of Jumbo-Visma has revealed he is confident Primoz Roglic will come back from the Giro d'Italia with the much sought after Pink Jersey.
"We think the course is made for Primoz," Zeeman reveals. "We did not make this choice overnight. But it does fit in nicely with Primoz's ambitions. He rode a strong Giro a few years ago. He hopes to be able to take a shot at the final win in the coming edition. He will be surrounded by a strong team. Our ambition is to win the Giro."
Assisting in Roglic's quest for Pink will be one of Jumbo-Visma's new signings, Wilco Kelderman. Now 31 years old, the Dutchman actually started his career with in the Jumbo-Visma set up under their former guise of Rabobank and he has already been made to feel more than welcome by his new teammates.
“It feels good to be back in an environment where it all started for me. In recent years I missed the family feeling that prevails here in this team," he reveals. "Everything here is perfectly arranged down to the last detail. I am very much looking forward to assisting Primoz in the Giro d'Italia."
