"I don't really know where I am but I want to do well" - Remco Evenepoel looking to discover his true form at Vuelta a San Juan

In Argentina for some days, Soudal - Quick-Step and Remco Evenepoel have been in the center of attentions for sports fans. He has been at the audience of a Boca Juniors game last night and has talked to the media regarding the upcoming Vuelta a San Juan.

"The Vuelta a San Juan is the first step towards the month of May and my big goal for the season, the Giro d'Italia. I don't really know where I am but I want to do well," the World Champion said ahead of the Argentinian stage-race.

This will be his season debut, and he will race alongside Fabio Jakobsen, as Quick-Step prepare to be the headlining team of the race. "I am happy to be back here after almost three years. The people are very friendly and they are also real fans," he commented.

"What are my expectations? I don't know, it's the first race of the year. There are a lot of opportunities for sprinters, so we are here with the idea of winning stages with Fabio [Jakobsen]," he admits.

The queen stage of the race will suit his attributes, as the riders will go up the Alto Colorado with around 25 kilometers at 5%. At altitude however he will face a tough challenge for this time of year, and will have the likes of Miguel Ángel López and Egan Bernal as competition.

"The only real opportunity for me is the 5th stage with the finish at Alto Colorado, I will do my best on this day, but I have no idea what it will give in terms of the result," he concluded.
