Glassdrive/Q8/Anicolor decimated the competition in the final mountain stage of the Volta a Portugal, with big differences made, but above all the collective dominance to be shown on the final road day. António Carvalho took the win, after the trio of climbers dropped the competition on the final climb.
On the penultimate climb, Atum General/Tavira pushed the pace and saw Alejandro Marque attack, reducing the GC group to only six riders, of which four of them were part of Glassdrive/Q8/Anicolor. The team had the three strongest climbers on the day, and played with the competition on the famous ascent to Senhora da Graça.
António Carvalho attacked at the base of the climb, and was later joined by Frederico Figueiredo and Mauricio Moreira. The trio rode to the finish in a controlled pace, with Carvalho being allowed to take the win as both his teammates have won over the past week and will go on to fight for the GC win tomorrow in the final-time-trial.
