Jonas Vingegaard suffered serious injuries at Itzulia Basque Country, and is in a mission against time to race the Tour de France where he is a double defending champion. Wout van Aert fractured his sternum, ribs and collarbone in a crash at Dwars door Vlaanderen, he's recently returned to racing at the Tour of Norway but will use this camp as means to improve on his modest form; whilst Christophe Laporte has come out of the Giro d'Italia and will use this camp also as preparation for the Tour instead of racing.
In the short video, it is possible to see Van Aert training sprints up a mountain. The Belgian did not achieve great results in Norway, but showed some competitive form, a positive sign. He is aiming for the Olympic Games and had previously decided not to race the Tour this year; but the injuries completely changed his season's schedule.
"Perhaps the Tour of Norway came a little too early for him. But it is Wout van Aert," team DS Frans Maassen recently said in an
interview with Het Laatste Nieuws. "He recovered quickly and was getting better every day. He had a good feeling after Norway. But of course there is still a lot of work to be done.”
