For Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the 2024 Giro d'Italia was a rocky affair. From pre-race disruption through illnesses and injuries to bad luck that continued to plague the team during the three weeks in Italy.
Coming soon, you will now able to see Team Visma | Lease a Bike's Giro d'Italia as never seen before following a trailer reveal from the team's official social media pages of an upcoming fly-on-the-wall documentary series to be released on Team Visma | Lease a Bike's YouTube channel called 'Inside the Beehive'.
"No one knows how it will turn out," Team Visma | Lease a Bike sports director narrates on the trailer. "This Giro is one with very mixed emotions. The resilience that we showed, I think that is something I'm very proud of. Very proud of the boys that are still here, that keep on fighting."
After the likes of Wout van Aert, Koen Bouwman and Wilco Kelderman were ruled out in the weeks preceding the Giro d'Italia, Visma were forced to change tactics and instead opted for a two-pronged leadership duo of sprinter Olav Kooij and general classification hopeful, Cian Uijtdebroeks. Although Kooij managed to win a stage on his Grand Tour debut and Uijtdebroeks spent most of the first two weeks in the White Jersey for Best Young Rider, both were eventually forced to abandon the race through illness with both Robert Gesink and Christophe Laporte also being made to leave the race prematurely after getting caught up in crashes.
