Marianne Vos rolled back the years at the 2024 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad WE, taking victory ahead of Lotte Kopecky and Elisa Longo Borghini in a thrilling finale.
A little earlier on however there were some disgusting scenes as a liquid, believed to be beer but not fully confirmed, was thrown over the riders as they took on Geraardsbergen by an absolute idiot of a 'fan' at the roadside.
In her post-race press conference, Vos shared a word about what happened. "I didn't know where it was, I thought it was at the Berendries. I did indeed get something over me. That's not part of it and it's a shame, but yes... it happened," she laments.
