Coup de gueule légitime de @JackyDurand contre les téléphones des spectateurs (mais grace à @jordimeeus , il y en a déja un en moins) #lesRP #TDF2023
The bunch sprint finish of stage 11 at the Tour de France was at first glance seemingly less chaotic than the hectic sprints that had preceded it. New footage however, seems to cast new light.
As the sprinters began to launch their final desperate pushes for the finish line in a sprint eventually won by Jasper Philipsen, BORA - hansgrohe's Jordi Meeus - pushed near the barriers - was struck in the shoulder by a fan who had been leaning over the said barriers trying to get a good video on their phone.
When watching the slowed-down video, you can actually see the phone fly out of the fan's hand as Meeus tries desperately to stay upright and avoid a crash that would have surely wiped out almost all of the peloton's sprinters in a massive disaster.
Check it out for yourself in the video below and let us know what you think!
