VIDEO | Almost the entire Tour de Hongrie peloton taken out by a mass crash

126 riders started today's stage of the Tour de Hongrie and only around a dozen were not harmed in some way by a mass crash that has happened early during today's stage 2. A massive crash happened in the peloton, taking down around 30 riders and blocking the road for the majority of the peloton.
This happened with 125 kilometers to go at a tense moment of the stage where the crosswinds threatened to create splits in the peloton. As the yellow jersey himself Danny van Poppel took to the head of the peloton, one of his Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe teammates momentarily moved off-road and crashed, taking down plenty riders right at the head of the peloton.
Sam Welsford, Pablo Torres, Ryan Mullen, Rainer Kepplinger and Frederik Wandahl have abandoned the race as a result, a catastrophic outcome for the German team who lost three riders in a single fall.

- If his fight was for GC, he could have worked together with Carapaz when Carapaz caught up to him. But he just sat behind his wheel and didn't pull, so I thought he might be on his limit. Then, he attacked at the top. Working together with Carapaz could have been beneficial for both GC goals, a win-win. I have no idea about his thought process.
KerisVroom28-05-2025 - Ayuso does this, he talks & show early, very well then fades, tho he's young and riding WT level is big! he'll come good in the yrs to come his Latin genes will pull thru for him. Del Toro needs to hang on, yet he's sharing with Ayuso.. UAE need to sort themselves tactically, going with A rider than scrapping on the road, murmurs infighting , they've burnt matches 'fighting' over who's leading, they'll only have themselves to blame if loss is their win!
