Update: Tour of Britain cancelled and concluded as Great Britain mourns Queen's death

This Thursday the long-standing queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II has passed away, which has caused a lot of consequences in the nation. The Tour of Britain organisers have decided to cancel the remaining stages due to the ongoing events.

The fifth stage of the race was won by Jordi Meeus who was the fastest in the final sprint, and was being led by Movistar Team's Gonzalo Serrano at the end of the day. The Spanish rider won the fourth stage and took advantage of the bonifications he took on the day to conquer the overall classification in front of Tom Pidcock and Omar Fraile.

Initally, race organizers announced the cancellation of the sixth stage of the race. Shortly after however, a post followed which announced the end of the race, as also stages 7 and 8 were cancelled.
