Uno-X renews with Tour de France revelation until 2028!

For those who watch cycling closely, it was impossible to miss the name Jonas Abrahamsen during the 2024 Tour de France. The Uno-X Mobility rider was constantly on the attack during the race and the team pulled out all the stop to keep him onboard. A new contract was signed all the way until 2028.

“The way Jonas is developing is simply impressive! He has been part of the Uno-X family since the beginning, where we have grown together to compete among the world’s best," Thor Hushovd, team manager, shared in a message on social media. "Proud and happy to extend the contract by 2 more years until the end of 2028! This proves that Uno-X Mobility is thinking and investing long-term!”

Abrahamsen had a contract until 2026 already with the team but there were rumours that after his performance at the Tour, there was interest from other teams. A few riders with ongoing contracts such as Tom Pidcock have contact with other teams despite their ongoing long-term contract; and the cases of Primoz Roglic and Cian Uijtdebroeks set precedents for what could be a departure of the Norwegian from the ProTeam.

But Uno-X stood their ground. Recently Hushovd admitted that he was considering a raise for the 28-year old: "I want to give him a raise so that Jonas feels he is appreciated." Now that has become a reality. The winner of the Brussels Cycling Classic also finished second at Dwars door Vlaanderen this year and has the potential to become a leader in the cobbled classics. Uno-X has the chance to also climb to World Tour level and he could play a big role in that.

During the Tour de France Abrahamsen rode an entire fifth of the race in the breakaway leading the Tour, featuring in the breakaway on five occasions including the first two days which earned him several days in the lead of the points and KOM classifications. Currently, he is riding in support of his teammates at the Tour of Norway and the team took the opportunity to seal the deal.
