U23 World Champion cancels upcoming races after a training accident

The Movistar cyclist and under-23 world time trial champion, the Italian Lorenzo Milesi, is already recovering at home from the accident he suffered this Saturday while training on his time trial special.

Milesi was admitted to hospital after the accident, although the check-ups carried out after the accident did not detect any fractures, which meant that the cyclist was able to return home on Sunday. However, Movistar preventively removed the Italian from their Baloise Belgium Tour lineup.

Movistar reported about the accident via social media: "The under-23 time trial world champion suffered a training accident on time trial bike last Saturday. Examined in the following hours, the first checks did not reveal fractures although his start at the Baloise Belgium Tour, scheduled to start on Wednesday, will not take place and he will compete again on another date. The Italian, who has been at his home since yesterday, will continue to undergo various evaluations this week to assess other injuries."
