With 15km to go though, the breakaway were swallowed up by the peloton. As the pace momentarily calmed down afterwards however, the attacks began again on a second category climb with just around 12km to go. Although no riders were able to properly snap the elastic on the climb, the peloton was incredibly strung out by the attacks.
Then, on the descent, a seven rider group got clear including Juan Pedro Lopez, Simon Clarke, Samuel Watson and Rune Herregodts among others. Even that move was dragged back by the bunch ahead of the punchy finale however. Heading towards the line, Corbin Strong just about held off TotalEnergies'
