Tour de Suisse 2024 stage 8 highlights - João Almeida wins final time-trial but Adam Yates resists and takes yellow jersey

An internal battle within UAE Team Emirates decided the overall classification of the Tour de Suisse. After dominating every single mountain stage; Adam Yates and João Almeida raced against each other to decide the winner of the overall classification.
The best legs on the day came from the Portuguese climber who looks to be on the form of his life, winning two stages and finishing second in the GC this week, and setting up Yates for two more - and time gain on stage 4. Yates had the advantage entering stage 8, and ultimately had enough of a lead to defend his yellow jersey.
Mattias Skjelmose was third on the day and, benefiting from a bad stage from Egan Bernal (only 9th best time), also climbed to third in the GC. Matthew Riccitello and Tom Pidcock followed; whilst Lenny Martínez, Pelayo Sánchez and David de la Cruz all put on very strong rides to feature in the Top10 of the 15-kilometer time-trial that finished atop the climb to Villars-sur-Ollon.
