The Tour de Langkawi 2023 could definitely be cancelled. Currently missing from the UCI calendar, the Malaysian race was scheduled to take place from 23-30 September, but was apparently canceled following some payment issues.
According to local sources, the race would have been penalized following the complaint of some teams who allegedly complained about the non-refund of the participation costs and the cost of the airline tickets, which should have been paid by the organization.
As for the moment, there is no official communications from the committee or from the International Cycling Union, but they now seem certain in Malaysia that the event will not take place.
There would currently be five teams that have lodged a complaint with the UCI, whose checks would have thus led to this decision. The race has been one of the biggest events in Asia for long years and has always enjoyed a great starting field. It's absence will be huge blow for the highest level of Asian cycling.
