Team SD Worx DS kicked out of Tour de France Femmes following Vollering drafting controversy

The blows keep on coming for Team SD Worx in recent days at the Tour de France Femmes. First Lorena Wiebes leaving the race, then Demi Vollering was given a 20-second time penalty and now, their sports director Danny Stam has been kicked off the race!

"The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) confirms the decision taken today by the UCI Commissaires’ Panel officiating at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift against Mr Danny Stam, Sport Director of the UCI Women's WorldTeam, Team SD Worx," reads an official statement from the UCI.

"The Commissaires’ Panel’s communiqué indicates that, after careful and lengthy review of the available TV footage, which clearly shows the particularly dangerous nature of Mr Stam's overtaking of other cars and riders during stage 5 of the event, and in view of the inappropriate comments made by Mr Stam to the UCI Commissaires’ Panel," it continues. "The Panel has imposed the following penalties on the Sport Director, based on articles 2.12.007/4.7 (last paragraph) and 2.12.007/8.2.2 (last paragraph) of the UCI Regulations: a fine of 500 Swiss francs and exclusion from the event."

Stam himself had actually come out and called the 20-second penalty given to Vollering 'unjustified', with both himself and fellow Team SD Worx DS, Anna van der Breggen extremely critical of the decision. Now though, it seems as if he will have to vent his frustration from home as Stam is no longer welcome in at the 2023 Tour de France Femmes.
