Tom Pidcock, who won atop Alpe d'Huez last year after a descending masterclass, said he would target stage victories again as he isn't feeling to be "good enough" to fight for the highest places in the GC.
"Of course I want to try and win," Pidcock told Eurosport after being asked whether he was targeting GC or stages. "I’m not good enough to win the GC this year, I can tell you that. But I want to try and win some stages and then see what happens on GC."
Pidcock took some of the spotlight on Sunday's stage 2 when he attacked in final kilometers of the stage, but his attempt was short-lived as Wout Van Aert immediately closed him down. The 23-year old still had enough in his tank to finish 4th in the sprint of group of favourites.
