Tom Dumoulin despite being retired was present at the
Wielergala in 's-Hertogenbosch last Monday, where
Dylan van Baarle was awarded the best dutch cyclist trophy of this season.
The 32-year-old Dutchmen, seems to have no regrets about his retirement has he stated that "As a top athlete you are always working on one thing. As a cyclist, that is cycling as hard as possible. That leaves little time, space and energy for other things. Now there is."
Furthermore although he had a low profile exit of the sport in August where he announced his retirement, Dumoulin seems to be happy with that decision although he would had liked to end with a farewell race.
"If I had been allowed to plan it, I would have planned it differently. Let me put it this way. But I haven't regretted for a moment that I made the decision then in August to quit straight away - without a farewell race, or any other grand farewell"said Dumoulin in a interview on the Wielergala.
