Jumbo-Visma starlet Tobias Foss could soon be riding for a different team with the 25-year-old keen to explore general classification prospects of his own.
“I really like this team and it is also the best team to develop yourself with. But you also have to find your place in the team and that is difficult," Foss told In de Leiderstrui in December. "If one day a team comes along that gives me every chance and confidence and guarantees me a place like Wout, Primoz or Jonas, then that will be better for me individually."
And now it seems like Uno-X Pro Cycling Team could be that destination. Although some movement financially is still required for a deal to be completed. “Tobias has every right to benefit from his world title. In the short term it doesn't make sense for us to invest in a big GC rider," says team manager Jens Haugland.
“The big teams have almost a monopoly position on the best GC riders. It's hard to compete with the salaries that are paid there," he continues with Foss himself acknowledging the possibility. "I was interested in a return, I wanted to think about that. The question is whether this is the right time in my career, in relation to my development. I have to weigh it against other opportunities I get. I'd be lying if I said there's little interest. Everyone wants a world champion, I have to judge whether other teams can give me more chances. I have to feel good about it."
