Tim Merlier finished sixth in the third stage of Vuelta a Espana. Though the rider has already secured bronze in the second stage, his teammates are not pleased with his performance.
"The disappointment is big, It might only turn around now," said his teammate Lionel Taminiaux. When Merlier was asked about his performance, he replied, "In the last corner, I was still well placed, but then something happened that doesn't normally happen. The team really believes in me, that I can give the team a victory. It was two nice chances, and it was there twice. That it didn't work out is hard to accept. Now I have to survive six days."
He continues, " We have to try every day. It would be easy if we ride in front all day and win right away, which was the case until now. Now it's a bit harder, but it will work out." He currently holds 84th position in GC, 59 seconds behind Edoardo Affin.
