Schmid proved he was the best man on the day by actually WINNING the stage through good tactical nous and team support - Plapp, Matthews, and O'Connor all sacrificed themselves for Schmid, it was incredible to watch, especially Plappy at the end riding very tactically to slow the chasers. You don't win a stage by accident at the TDF. People also forget grand tours require a lot of endurance. Maybe you can go for the stage today but your legs will suffer tomorrow - do you want to risk it for the biscuit? THAT'S why grand tours are so amazing.Pogboom18-07-2026
