Marianne Vos may not have won the Tour de France Femmes, but she is happy with women getting the recognition they deserve in cycling. Although she lost the yellow jersey, she finished the tour with the green jersey to her name.
"This means a lot. I don't think we realize that yet," Vos told NOS. She continues, "But what we have experienced is incredibly beautiful. It seemed like it became more and more every day. This was wonderful to experience. I think it will have a very nice sequel. I get a lot of nice, good, positive reactions."
Vos secured two stage victories and held the yellow jersey till the sixth stage. "I can't say anything else. From the first moment in Paris, it was only eight days, but it was pretty tough and intense. That was beautiful. As a team, we wanted to go for a stage win. We succeeded twice. With the bonus of wearing the yellow jersey, now I am standing here in green. I am very grateful that they helped me so much every day," Vos said.
Even Vos was amazed by the comeback of Annemiek van Vleuten after struggling for the first few stages of the tour. " It's incredible what she showed again, yesterday and today. I was close to her after she broke down. I saw that happen. But what she does after that is super strong," concluded Vos.
