Perhaps the most important victory so far in her career on the road, Blanka Kata Vas soared to success at the
Tour de Suisse Women yesterday, becoming yet another rider of
Team SD Worx to benefit from the collective success this year.
"I am very happy with this victory. Without them we could never have won," the Hungarian rider said in a post-race interview, thanking the team for the opportunity given. "It is definitely a victory for the team. Actually, I still can't quite believe it. Could never have won without them. They really did everything they could to help me win. I think I have the best sprint in a short stage."
Vas has gotten a lot of success in cyclocross and mountain biking, however her transition to the road saw her become a domestique for the Dutch team. However, with the immense amount of success the team has been having this year, almost unbeatable in many races - with this one likely being no exception, there was a commitment to help the 21-year old take the stage win.
Today's stage will be key for the overall classification, a fairly lengthy time-trial will see very big gaps emerge before the hilly stages and Vas' teammate Marlen Reusser will be the ultimate candidate for the stage win and race lead.
