Filippo Ganna and Elia Viviani have both had very active finales to the road season and their mind will be in 2024 already. The INEOS Grenadiers duo work together on the track quite a lot, they will start their season at the Tour Down Under and then right away begin work towards the Olympic Games.
Both are extremely accomplished riders on the velodrome and will be building up towards the Paris Olympics. They will travel to Australian for the road season starter and then race the Nations Cup in early January. They still have to qualify for the Olympics however that should not be a too difficult task for two world-class figures. In Paris however, they will most likely not compete on the road.
"The road and track are incompatible," Marco Vila, the national coach of the Italian team, said regarding the Olympics. "Ganna will ride the team pursuit and the time trial. There is more of a chance for the women to race more because the road race is scheduled for Saturday (July 27), and the team pursuit starts on the Tuesday after.”
