🇪🇸 #LaVuelta22 Vine wins the stage, with @JaiHindley in 16th at 2:16 down, @HiguitSergio in 19th and @W1lcokelderman in 37th.
Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley has not been showing the same form he has in May, but so far has been very consistent in the fight for the overall classification and will have in the coming weeks stages very well suited to him.
"It was a tough day from the start. But the team, especially our fast guys, put in a great performance to come back after the start and position our GC riders well," the Australian said at the end of stage 9. "I have to say they did a really good job there. The last climb was really brutal. And on inclines like that, you either have the legs or you don't".
BORA had three riders well positioned at the start of the day but saw Wilco Kelderman struggle and loose time, however being the main card to play for BORA - hansgrohe, Hindley has arrived at the finish 56 seconds down on the Evenepoel group, and is now in ninth position 2:51 minutes down on the Belgian.
"Unfortunately we all lost a bit of time there, but the race is far from over. There's still a long way to go to Madrid, and hopefully we can recover from that," he concluded. Today's finale at Les Praeres will be far from ideal for the Australian pure climber, however in the second week of the race there will be three different stages that should suit him quite well.
