"The one who decides whether to attack or not is me" - Enric Mas on online criticism

Enric Mas is set to start the Tour de France with the goal of improving on his fifth place of the last two seasons, and he will be one of the climbers that will get the most attention once the race goes uphill. He leads Movistar Team, however is nevertheless once again responsive of the criticism he gets online.

"People are waiting for me to attack, but Enric is me, and the one who decides whether to attack or not is me," he said. Despite having finished fifth in both last editions of the Tour and second at the Vuelta a España, all across social media Mas is heavily criticized by his compatriots.

With the recent legacy of Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde and Joaquim Rodríguez, aswell as the long and full history of Spanish cycling and it's stars, the expectations are very high on Mas who has become the country's top Grand Tour contender. He's been the target of criticism for a long time and has before the Tour de France once again responded to these.

"From TV it's very easy. If I see the option I'll attack, but I'm not going to attack because people or nobody ask me to," he said. He will be leading Movistar Team once again at the Tour, with the likes of Carlos Verona and Gorka Izagirre as his main domestiques in the mountains, before targeting the Vuelta a España once again.
