Team Visma | Lease a Bike DS on Uijtdebroeks: "Cian, for example, is still young, but we see him as a future leader of the team"

Team Visma | Lease a Bike had difficulties finding a main sponsor for the 2024 season, but with the budget they had available they net big signings. Matteo Jorgenson, Ben Tulett, but most importantly Cian Uijtdebroeks. And the Dutch team have big plans.

In a press release shared over new year, a few of it's new riders have issued statements on ambitions and plans for the upcoming season. Alongside them, team DS Merijn Zeeman specifically brought up the Belgian signing, with promising words. "They are riders who fit well into this team. They are keen to develop, and we will help them. Cian, for example, is still young, but we see him as a future leader of the team. It is vital that he can continue to improve at his own pace," Zeeman said.

"I'm excited to be part of this squad. I want to improve in the grand tours," Uijtdebroeks himself shared. "This is the perfect team and environment for me to accomplish that. A strict team that tries to get the maximum out of every race. That works for me."

The 20-year old will focus specifically on stage-races throughout the first part of the season, having in his schedule the Gran Camiño, Tirreno-Adriatico and Volta a Catalunya. This will provide chances for both himself to chase results, but also to work alongside his new teammates including Jonas Vingegaard from whom he may learn a lot in the field of the Grand Tours. He will, most likely, be in a training camp with Wout van Aert and several other teammates before the Giro d'Italia.
