TDT-Unibet will become ProTeam in 2024 and aims for Tour de France debut

Tour de Tietema started in 2019 as the YouTube channel of Bas Tietema, Josse Wester and Devin van der Wiel, on which the trio reported daily on the Tour de France in their own funny way.

A Dutch Continental team was created from this project last year. When TDT-Unibet was launched, the ambition was immediately expressed to take the step towards a ProTeam as soon as possible with aim to race biggest races possible.

"Our dream of competing in the biggest races in the world has come much closer with the step into the ProTeam. We will be competing in bigger cycling races and we are currently in the process of expanding our organization," Tietema said in a press release.

Their main sponsor, Unibet, makes the promotion financially possible. With the step towards ProTeam status, TDT-Unibet will (have to) grow on all fronts. With a ProTeam license, TDT-Unibet will be allowed to participate in major WorldTour races such as the Tour of Flanders, Amstel Gold Race and Tour de France next season, in case they receive the wild cards.

"With Bas and Devin, I am currently in France for the fifth consecutive year to report on the Tour de France in our own way," says Wester. "It's been the goal to do that race, with content around our own team. That it's now becoming very realistic is a weird thought."
