Tadej Pogacar smashes Strava record for the Col de la Madone showing good form prior to World Championships

Tadej Pogacar has been taking a break from racing recently after what was a rollercoaster of a Tour de France for the Slovenian. Ahead of his return to action in Glasgow for the World Championships however, Pogacar has displayed good legs on a training ride.

After it was confirmed that Pogacar would indeed be leading the Slovenian national team at the World Championships, the UAE Team Emirates has now destroyed Richie Porte's former Strava KOM record on the infamous Col de la Madone climb.

"Baiting Richie Porte to come back in Europe," captioned the 24-year-old, paying homage to the former Team Sky and BMC rider who retired in 2022. Ascending the brutal 17% slopes at an average speed of 24.5km/h, Pogacar flew into the leading time with his effort of 23:53.

With Pogacar taking part in both the men's elite road race and the individual time-trial in Glasgow, the form is certainly there, despite Tour de France heartbreak, for the Slovenian superstar to take at least one Rainbow Jersey for the first time in his career.
