The divisive CEO of Team Visma | Lease a Bike Richard Plugge, who is at the forefront of the Saudi-backed One Cycling project, is now set to step down from his role as chairman of the AIGCP, which is the association of professional cycling teams.

Plugge will not stand for re-election as chairman, as he wants to spend more time focusing on Visma | Lease a Bike. However, the Dutchman will continue to keep a close eye on the organisation, as he said “I always continue to look at the interests of the collective of cycling teams”.

After three years as chairman, Plugge feels that it is the right time for him to step down, as he said “I think it is healthy and good to regularly pass the gavel. As a result, we all share responsibility as professional cycling teams”.
