After he took a stage win and the overall victory at the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes in February,
Benoît Cosnefroy put in a strong performance to finish in sixth place at Strade Bianche earlier this month. With the Frenchman clearly in good form, he is now looking ahead to
Milano-Sanremo this weekend, as he is aiming for a good result in the first Monument of the season.
In his two previous participations at Milano-Sanremo, Cosnefroy finished 78th in 2022 and 22nd in 2023, as he said in an interview with his
Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team that “there is a small taste of unfinished business”.
On his objective for the race, Cosnefroy went on to say that “I come with the desire to achieve the best possible result, it’s the first Monument of the year, the field is significant, surely the strongest of the early season but victory is possible”.
He will be joined by a strong Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale team, who will be riding in their new kit that was revealed this week, with Oliver Naesen, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Andrea Vendrame, Larry Warbasse, Sander De Pestel and Dries De Bondt all set to be on the start line in Pavia on Saturday.
in his dreams
That dream where he’s in the 3-man break with MvdP and TP and they crash into each other a few km before the finish?
The only thing speaking in his, and about 150 others’ favour is the race has been won by a different person every year since quite a while. Unfortunately for him, TP hasn’t won yet ;-)
I’m still tipping on MvdP becoming the first since Zabel to win consecutively (he actually did that twice and EM three times)
