With 13 kilometers to go Vagheluwe of Soudal - Quick-Step set off the front in the breakaway and kept moving to the finish solo. However he was never going to realistically make it, as the peloton quickly approached in a full-on fight for positioning. The catch was made with four kilometers to go.
The lack of quality images from TV broadcast made it very difficult to understand what happened in the final kilometers but it was possible to see Mathieu van der Poel doing the leadout, with Jonathan Milan and Jasper Philipsen in the wheels - exactly as was the case on stage 1.
Well the outcome was also the same. The Italian powerhouse sprinter remains unbeatable in these sprints, he has taken his second win of the week beating Philipsen to the line once again.
Max Walscheid took third place o the day, quite far behind the top two.
