A rainbow jersey autographed by Remco Evenepoel is up for auction. Funds raised will be used for the rehabilitation of Dutch cyclist Amy Pieters.
The 23rd of December marks exactly one year since Dutch cyclist Amy Pieters was involved in a serious cycling accident on training camp. For a while, Pieters was in a coma. Although Remco Evenepoel enjoyed a great season, he sympathizes with Pieters and has decided to help her in his own way “I am very happy with my cycling year 2022 and that I am healthy and have not suffered any serious injury," Evenepoel told Sporza.
He further added, "Unfortunately, that is not true for everyone. I sympathise very much with Amy Pieters, who fell so badly last December 23. I hope for nice proceeds from this jersey and that with this, we may contribute a very small amount to the means to offer Amy a good rehabilitation."
A number of well-known names have already raised funds through the auctioning of their possessions. The jersey and bike of Annemiek van Vleuten were auctioned off to raise funds for Pieters A Cervelo R5, is for sale from Tom Dumoulin, and a black-and-white picture has been signed by Eddy Merckx. In addition, Mathieu van der Poel, Denise Betsema, Sanne Cant, Fabio Jakobsen, Niki Terpstra, Marianne Vos and Robert Gesink offered an autographed cycling jersey.
